3 am with the team.

Number 8 but still Varsity for this race. It was so nice just to hang out with the guys for a few hours. 2 mile warm up and striders, we were a little late and I didnt have the full time for pre-race traditions (open the gates, jump up and down, visualize).

The gun went off and I didnt get the best position but I followed Scott, Tanner, Spenc and Sage up though the first half mile. I got out of a pack at the first time at the track. Mile 1 was about 5:15 so faster than Im used to. For mile 2 Specer was gone and all the people in front of me dispersed. Came in maybe at 11:35 I started to lose focus (blame Maddie Gill's beautiful face) but I kicked on the jets for mile 3. Coach said "pass 4 pine view kids" and I started the push for the finish. I got 3 by the 600m and was working to stay ahead. We dropped into the track for the last 300m and I was close to a Page kid. With 10m left he CUTS IN FRONT OF ME!! I pushed my arm in front of him and fought him for the last 3 steps (the officals put him in front but I won with the head bob). I was really angry at first but I told him "good job, sorry I bumbed into you" he looked really ashamed so he knows what he did. I will just take the higher road. I still yelled at coach for what happed, but he said to calm down and I understood that people were watching and Caden was getting riled up too, very wise of Coach... I learned a lesson and also that I need to be more agressive. (still a little disapointed that that was the Page guys best effort; to cut someone off. Classless). Only 4 seconds behind scott... would have been nice to know at the 500m or 400m...
