| | Had a good night run with Tanner Scott and Joe. Kept it pretty flat.
|
|
| | 8x100s. Caden and I were late to the 100s because of the "cherry blossom" chicken at school lunch. Let's just say those cherries blossomed.
|
| |
| | I am experiencing some pain 'neath the bootnicks probably need more water, even though it's kindof chilly outside. It was nice to do plyometrics again. Easier than tabatta.
|
| |
| | Awesome trail to the Lonley mountain. Lot of lord of the rings reinactments. The way back was really slow but like coach said I have to think of 5 positive comments for each negative one so I'll keep my mouth shut.
|
|
| | 2 mile warm up. Vo2 the Max. Finished with 10 laps and right behind Scotty. 2 mile cool down hid golfball.
|
|
| | Started off at about 9 min pace but worked down to 6 min mile. It was a beautiful run, I felt great and it was a breeze ( minus digging a pickup out of the sand).
|
| |
| | 2 mile warm up. 15 min Tempo Run, 6:05 mi pace with Scotty but we went 6:02. 2 mile cooldown and then core with cap'n Banejamin. I felt great.
|
|
| | Trail run with road shoes is a bad idea but i needed to get them broken in.

|
| | We drove to Church Rocks and ran around in the desert. There were cliffs, scary tunnels and "gold group" girls leading us. I felt pretty great today.
|
|
|
| | 2 mile warm up we took it pretty fast. The first mile repeat of our 4X1600 I felt great and Tanner and I hit our time. The next two miles we were about 5 seconds slow. Thankfully Coach let us do the 4th one (I would hate to not be able to do the same workout as the Varsity) and I was about 8 seconds behind pace. I was feeling pretty beat during the 1 mile cooldown and then we got to do Plybotta Bleacher Edition. Overall it was a pretty rough day that im glad is behind me. Wont be at morning practice because of Driver's Ed.

| | Running with the 800 clan was a great experince. Also we only had 6 repeats ;) The 5X200m progressians felt great kind of.
I loved my new Galaxy Shorts. I think i may have scared some of the freshman girls...
|
|
| |
| | 8 miles in the desert alone... I found the old border crossing station, it is sketchy to say the least.
|
|
|
| | 2.5 mile warm up. Over 3 mile tempo run past the Rosenburche musesm thingy. I felt good the first two miles but I started feeling some pain in my shin and slowed down. I finished right behind Caden. We cooled down back to the park and my shins hurt pretty bad. Core was easy and stretching felt great.
Got a ride back from Jordan : )

Dogtown 9k (5.592 Miles) 00:30:08, Place overall: 4, Place in age division: 1 | | The Dogtown 9k
Great start, we were far ahead any other people. Riley, Gibb, David&Goliath and I stayed as a pack for the first mile than Riley and I took off in search of Kale (who was riding the tail of the Bike Dude). We hit our times for Miles 1 and 2. Riley and I slowed down for mile 3 with 6:41. I left Swaney and tried to catch this Freshman from Pineview. (Nasty baby Panther). I didnt get him but I was right at 6:00 for mile 4. I had an alright finish and the race was very fun! 4th overall. I got 1st in my age group.

Ice bathe with Joe and core and stretch was nice.
But I feel like sometimes we have too much time between the workout-cool down and cool down-stretch. I like plombota but we didn't do it today :/

Cedar all comers (2.95 Miles) 00:16:21, Place overall: 11 | | I got a good position and about a mile and a half in, tanner caught me and we worked up to jaiden. For the last mile tanner jaiden and I were passing and fighting each other. At the 200m jaiden dropped back and tanner out kicked me. I felt really good the whole race but my kick failed. I still finished 7th in the team. It was an amazing feeling to finally be on varsity! I am really exited to see what happens this season and to be a part of everything.

Pm: I was late to practice and now Im not going to be. Pine View looked like they wanted blood. It was a really chill warm up (exept for the fact that I was in the bathroom for 20 mins).. My relay team with Bryson and Jaiden did really well, Jaiden ran the first mile and stayed with sage. Bryson had a great leg and he kept us in 4th. When I got the baton Scotty had a 100m lead and I wanted to catch him sooo bad. I didnt get to him and Cameron Brown almost caught me... I felt really angry and Im hoping to channel that into SUU.

| | 11.5 miles on top of Cedar Mountain. I felt really fresh despite yesterday... It was really fun to go play on the trails with Coach Thatcher and the Varsity boys. Joe's pack was bugging him so we traded for the run and it chaffed on me too. The couple miles we picked up the pace but I fell behind like 300m.

Pm: 4.5 inside the school due to flooding/lightning in the surrounding area. We got to run by the Cheer squad and the Volleyball team so im not too upset. Kale gave us an awesome core workout!

At 6 I went on a 5 mile hike for scouts, and I hiked there but I ran back for 2.5 miles.

SUU (3 Miles) 00:16:45, Place overall: 11 | | I couldn't fall asleep last night but I felt good going up to Cedar. Warming up with the Varsity team was one of the coolest experiences ive had in a long time.
The race was so great, to have that group ahead of me like that was really helpful in staying as a pack. I came in 11th and got a T shirt because we won. I didnt get the top 10. I ran the best race of my life so far but Im not on Varsity anymore. I am going to use this to propel my career as a runner.

American Fork Grass Relays (2 Miles) 00:11:04, Place overall: 11 | | I felt good that morning. Scott Tanner and I had a nice warmup/striders/prayer and we lined up.
The gun went off and I burned my way to first place at the gate, I settled in the next 100m and was about 15-20th Scott passed me and I stayed with tanner and even pushed ahead of him for the first Gauntlet. At 1.25 about tanner passed me and i was maybe 18th place. I felt good and I knew coach would tell me to trust the work i'd put in so I flew past about 7 people in 200m and ended up 11th for the second week in a row.
The race was so fun and the way down was great. We went to Hot Springs and I sat by Madi Hansen on the way down.

BYU (3.2 Miles) 00:18:01, Place overall: 9 | | 1 mile warm up
I got out ahead of the writhing masses and stayed with the top group of about 20 for the first mile. Things began to clear up and It was strung out for the next mile and a half. I really focused on getting the guys ahead of me. My parents went up and It was really helpful to have them there for me. I passed a guy at the end and finished 9th all 8 in front of me and 3 behind me were all Davis Darts. I was really impressed with their sportsmanship. It was a race of place not time.

Woodbridge Qualifier (sudden death) (2 Miles) 00:10:30, Place overall: 3 | | 3 am
2 mile warm up at 10:00 at night.
3200m on the track. Scott chose this as our qualifier. My second 3200 race ever! For the first 4 laps I stayed with scotty and then he dropped the hammer. for 5 and 6 I was in last place so I relied on my 800 skills. I passed Caden and Bryson. Riley and I were racing with scott for the finish but it was only the 7th lap. Scott caught us and Riley went with him. I dragged behind but couldnt get myself to go. Riley beat scott and is going to Woodbride. I pr'd by a minuet and a half..
I was about to go home but realised we had a 300m 200m 150m finished left....

Canyon View Invite (3.2 Miles) 00:17:09, Place overall: 9 | | Beautiful morning in Cedar.
My race was last, we warmed up around the course. It was my first time there so I had to kind of map it all out in my head. Top 7 were in California so I ran varsity with Scott, Bryson, Caden, David, Ginge and Joe. I felt pretty trashed and Bryson got ahead of me. I was struggling to keep the pace, I had a big group behind me. The last mile or so Nephi Eschler came up behind me and we started passing people. At the 300m to the end Nephi got right with me and we sprinted as fast as we could, I barely passed him at the end. It felt so great because he is an amazing 800m and has a lot of speed. Our 300 was under 40seconds! As a team we took 1st place and all got shirts. Scott Bryson and I got top 10. Very exiting to have 8-14 on the team still win a meet!

2.5 mile warm up
10x500m. I felt alright on the first 5 but for 6,7 and 8 Matthew passed me at the end. I was really beat up (partially because I forgot my water and parially because I stayed up till midnight texting women...) I told coach I need to call it quits but then I thought I didn't come all this way just to quit. So I finished the 10 and was pretty dead after that.

NEBO (3.05 Miles) 00:16:38, Place overall: 5, Place in age division: 5 | | It took a while to get up to Payson but the ride was fun. We played Uno and talked for a few hours as a team. I got about 45 mins of sleep before my race so I felt really fresh.
All of the JV Sr/Jr boys did calistenics and striders (led by me) then we all visualized (also led by me). Caden led us in a succsessful redering of Go Fight Win Tonight, Cody Clayton would be proud.
The gun went off and I sprinted pretty hard for the first 50m I didnt want to get boxed in. Caden, Joe, etc. all did. I was about top 15 for the first mile at 5:15. It was really nice having Jake Taylor and some other PV kids to stick/fight with. By the second mile I was just really focused on my cadence, I came in aroud 11:40. I started working forward trying to leave it all out on the course, I passed a few guys and by the last 400m there was a group of 4 of us. We dropped onto the track and I kicked on the Nitrus. Our arm were swinging so hard I hit a Mtn. View kids arm and he kind of stumbled. The last 100m I passed all 4 guys landing myself in 5th place. I was so happy I jumped up and smacked the flag things hanging over the finish line. I got 5th and beat Scotts time by two seconds so I will race Varsity for Cedar.
It was my best race of the season so far and Im really exited for this week. We got back really late and Im tired.

I watched Avatar the last Airbender and answered Kylie to Sadies. Then I watched the Hobbit Pt.2 with my family so overall a good day.

didnt wake up on time, woke up 7:55... this homework is breaking me.
Workout at little valley, 12x400m. The first 11 were great I was in front of Tanner for some of them. Felt really good until I triped on my shoelace and pulled my Groin.

Easy run in the Desert my groin didnt feel very bad today. We had 4x200m and those made my groin hurt. I think its longer-stride related.

Cedar Invite II (2.95 Miles) 00:16:12, Place overall: 32 | | 3 am with the team.
Number 8 but still Varsity for this race. It was so nice just to hang out with the guys for a few hours. 2 mile warm up and striders, we were a little late and I didnt have the full time for pre-race traditions (open the gates, jump up and down, visualize).
The gun went off and I didnt get the best position but I followed Scott, Tanner, Spenc and Sage up though the first half mile. I got out of a pack at the first time at the track. Mile 1 was about 5:15 so faster than Im used to. For mile 2 Specer was gone and all the people in front of me dispersed. Came in maybe at 11:35 I started to lose focus (blame Maddie Gill's beautiful face) but I kicked on the jets for mile 3. Coach said "pass 4 pine view kids" and I started the push for the finish. I got 3 by the 600m and was working to stay ahead. We dropped into the track for the last 300m and I was close to a Page kid. With 10m left he CUTS IN FRONT OF ME!! I pushed my arm in front of him and fought him for the last 3 steps (the officals put him in front but I won with the head bob). I was really angry at first but I told him "good job, sorry I bumbed into you" he looked really ashamed so he knows what he did. I will just take the higher road. I still yelled at coach for what happed, but he said to calm down and I understood that people were watching and Caden was getting riled up too, very wise of Coach... I learned a lesson and also that I need to be more agressive. (still a little disapointed that that was the Page guys best effort; to cut someone off. Classless). Only 4 seconds behind scott... would have been nice to know at the 500m or 400m...
Barefoot mile + awards WOO HOO!

| | Worked Marathon security with scott and that was really fun seeing Coach finish. Very Impressed.
Did yardwork for Pat with scott and sealed a gig every week there! so maybe I'll start taking some of Tanner's lawn mowing customers ;).
I started my 7 mile run and at 2 miles in realized conference was about to start so I sprinted back to my house to change for priesthood session and then went to dinner. Got back at around 10 so I went to sleep... I need to focus at the end of the season if I want to accomplish my goals.

| | 3.5 in the morning woke up really early so that was nice.
School was pretty lame we had some Military test (ASVPU?) really easy and we were done by 10:00. Really weird story though.. So this kid named Matthew Chase Bennet was walking behind us as we were going to go to IHOP. He just followed Scott Sage and I to the Ahtletic Building, Locker Room, Bathroom and then scotts car. When Scotty unlocked the doors MCB gets in and somehow thinks that we are his friends or something... He came with us to IHOP because he had $50 in cash (he let us know many times). We ate and he had to go home so we dropped him off. Really weird...
Last workout at BHNP (aka: the Jungle) 2 mile warm up.
4x800m catch-me-if-you-can workout. 5 seconds in between people for the first and then 3 seconds for the rest. I just really focused on getting Swaney I did all 4 times! and not letting Scott get me (he didnt!) Spencer/Rex/Jaiden/Kale each got me a couple of times... 4x300m course finishes. I passed 4-5 people everytime. Great workout! I have that course Memorized. 1 mile barefoot cooldown, lets just say there is a reason they are called "blades of grass"
